The Motorcycle Safety Foundation teaches four key steps to turning your bike:

SLOW

Reduce your speed before the turn, not in the turn. Reduce throttle, apply brakes, downshift...any or all will slow you to permit safe cornering and allow constant acceleration through the curves

LOOK

Use your head and eyes for directional control. Look through the turn to where you want to go. Turn your head, not your shoulders or just your eyes.

PRESS

The bike must lean to turn. To lean, press on the handgrip in the direction of the turn. PRESS LEFT - LEAN LEFT - GO LEFT. PRESS RIGHT - LEAN RIGHT - GO RIGHT. Lean with the bike and look through the curve.

ROLL

Roll on the throttle through the turn. Maintain steady speed or gently accelerate. Avoid deceleration or rapid acceleration while in the turn. Keeping your eyes level with the horizon will help you maintain your balance in a curve.
